The Arena Where Owen Hart Tragically Died To Be Torn Down

  • Share

NBC Action News is reporting that the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri is going to be torn down in place of a new “agricultural events center.” The arena, which holds over 19,000 fans and was built in the mid-1970s, will instead become a “5,000-seat coliseum dedicated to dirt events like rodeos and horse shows.” The report notes that the American Royal and Kemper family are in favor of tearing down the arena.

The venue, of course, was the same place where Owen Hart lost his life in a stunt where he was going to be dropped from the rafters into the ring. Instead, Hart tragically fell nearly 80-feet and died live on the air at the 1999 WWE Over the Edge pay-per-view.
