WWE has finally provided an update on the status of Randy Orton following his back injury at Tuesday’s SmackDown1 television tapings from Indianapolis, Indiana.
“Randy suffered a herniated disc on the L4-L5 level on the left side, and that’s resulting in pain and weakness down his leg.” WWE doctor Michael Sampson told WWE.com. “He’s going to need some time off for rehab, anti
inflammatory medications and physical therapy.”
The website also says that “the full extent of The Viper’s injury remains to be seen” and that the injury “could keep him sidelined for a few weeks.”
F4WOnline.com reports that Randy Orton has been complaining about a back injury for two weeks now, which is why his physical workload was reduced prior to his Falls Count Anywhere Match at the SmackDown! tapings on Tuesday, which is where he may have further tweaked his back.
Sheamus will be replacing Orton against Wade Barrett at live events this week in Street Fight Matches.
