John Laurinaitis Comments On Zack Ryder Not Getting US Title Shot

  • Share

Regarding this Sunday’s U.S. Title match featuring Dolph Ziggler vs John Morrison, which originally pegged Ziggler in the slot in place of Morrison, WWE.com posted a follow-up this morning, with RAW Interim General Manager John Laurinaitis denying Ryder a slot this Sunday at Survivor Series.

“I think I’m being very generous because John Morrison was on a losing streak which he seemed to have broken with a victory over Dolph Ziggler in a match last week. I’m all about giving talent opportunities and I feel that John Morrison has earned an opportunity to compete for the United States Championship,” Laurinaitis told WWE.com.

“As far as Zack Ryder’s twitter petition goes, no General Manager in WWE history is more about social media than I am. However, I feel he is going to have to gain many more than 15,000 signatures before I consider giving him an opportunity to compete for the United States Championship. Again, I’m all about giving talent opportunities … when I feel they have earned them.”

Nice work on WWE’s part.  Accomplishes several things at once – Laurenitis gains heat for not giving Ryder the spot, and undoubtedly this will flood Ryder’s twitter with new petition signees.  Not to mention it continues to build Ryder by getting the fans more solidly behind him and his US Title quest.
For those Ryder fans who think Ryder is being screwed, proof that Vince knows what you want more than you do!  When Ryder’s time comes, and it will, it will be that much more meaningful.
