Appearing in a limousine in the backstage area, Foley stated that he decided to make a WWE return because he wouldn’t miss the return of The Rock for anything.

Foley was last seen on television on the SmackDown! brand as a color commentator during his last WWE run, but left the company in September of 2008 due to reportedly not being happy with his position in the company and bad blood between him and McMahon over their vision of being an announcer.

He then appeared with WWE’s competition, TNA Wrestling, from 2008 – 2011 as an ocassional wrestler as well as an on-and-off-again authority figure. He left the company in June of this year abruptly after he was revealed as the “Network Executive” because creative differences between he and the company.

Foley was advertised for tonight’s RAW weeks ago, as advertised by the official TD Garden website. After we reported that Foley was advertised for tonight’s broadcast, any mention of Foley was pulled from the website.

“What will happen when seven time WWE Champion, ‘the most electrifying man in all of entertainment’ The Rock and 10 time WWE Champion John Cena meet in Cena’s hometown? John Cena, Randy Orton and CM Punk vs. The Miz, R-Truth and Mark Henry in a 6 man tag team match. Also, a special appearance by Mick Foley!” the original website statement read.

Earlier this month, Foley made his first WWE appearance in three years at a live event in Dublin, Ireland in while he was taking his comedy tour around Europe. He appeared as the special guest referee for a match pitting John Cena against R-Truth. Foley, who has teased a return to the organization in recent weeks, is in the U.K. for a promotional tour. Tonight is his first television appearance on WWE TV in over three years.
