According to various sources, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton has suffered a legitimate concussion. The concussion reportedly took place this past weekend while the SmackDown! brand was overseas at an event in Madrid, Spain. Earlier, many speculated that the concussion mentions by Orton on RAW Monday night was part of the ongoing storyline between him and Christian, but that is not the case.

As of now, WWE management have not made a decision about whether Orton will compete at this Sunday’s Capitol Punishment pay-per-view, or have him defend it in a very short bout. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is now taking concussions very seriously and when their talent is diagnosed with it, will be kept out of the ring as long as possible. Orton did not compete on RAW nor at the SmackDown! tapings last night.
