The Hulk Hogan vs Sting match that has been in the making for months now on Impact Wrestling looks to have been scrapped — at least in a one on one match, PWInsider.com reports. Management apparently nixed the idea as of yesterday and are now looking to have them face off in either a tag team bout or a three-way dance.
At Monday’s tapings, Sting defeated Ric Flair in a match, thus giving him the right to face Hogan at the Bound for Glory PPV next month. We are still awaiting if the match will still take place or how TNA decides to change it at the tapings tonight.
No details on why the match was canceled, but you can probably imagine that many were not convinced that the two would be able to produce a decent match on the big Bound for Glory stage — the biggest event of the year for TNA. Sting can do very little in the ring these days and is usually limited to short bouts where he is carried by his opponent and Hogan has a well-documented history with surgeries. Why TNA decided to nix the idea in the middle of their tapings and a month before Bound for Glory seems like a mystery, though. Many backstage are not surprised and are saying “typical TNA” within themselves.
