After in theaters for eight days, the Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson starring Fast Five has grossed $117.88 million, according to total early estimates including the projected weekend’s gross. On Friday, the movie grossed $10.5 million, down from its initial Friday release last week of $50.82 million.
Fast Five‘s primary rival this weekend, Thor, is expected to rake in $66 million, about $20 million short of Fast Five‘s opening weekend; Fast Five will rake in just over half that number — $32.51 million. Those behind Fast Five, though, remain happy with the numbers as it has raked in more money than than its predecessor in the franchise, Fast & Furious.
The movie starring the WWE Superstar is just $7 million away from passing the production budget of the movie, $125 million.
