WWE has been airing vague vignettes over the past three weeks hinting that a mysterious individual was going to arrive on WWE programming on February 21, 2011. Today is that date. And as heavily speculated, the Undertaker was the mystery individual that WWE revealed tonight.
When the first vignette aired three weeks ago, the Internet went abuzz with speculation that Sting, who recently left WWE’s competitor TNA Wrestling, was going to be joining the company for the first time and then face the Undertaker at WrestleMania 27 in April. However, that buzz derailed in the second week when Johnny Cash’s “Ain’t No Grave” aired, which was the same song used during his feud with Shawn Michaels last year. Plus, what do graves have to do with Sting?
Last week, WWE physically showed the Undertaker inside his cabin, but speculation continued that Sting, Shawn Michaels or even Triple H were outside his cabin, making their way into his home while the Undertaker looked on from inside his home. However, Sting has still not signed on with the company, if he ever will.
As of now, it looks like any potential Sting-Undertaker dream-match has been called off by fans and the second-best scenario will involve the Undertaker facing Triple H in a streak vs career match, similar to one the Undertaker had last year with Shawn Michaels, which ended his career. This is why the Undertaker returned to the company just moments ago, only to be interrupted by “The Game” Triple H.
