Thanks to Michael Porter for sending this along:
On the Wednesday February 3rd Edition of RVD-Radio, of which I was a part during the On-Air Broadcast, Rob Van Dam had a SPECIAL, SURPRISE Guest Caller, as the IMMORTAL Hulk Hogan called in to the show!
Hulk had initally called RVD on his cellphone, so Rob advised him that he was LIVE and on-the-air with RVD-Radio! RVD asked if Hulk could call in to the show, and…low and behold…in a short time Hulk Hogan was on-the-air!
“The Hulkster” was on the air for nearly an hour in total, and he took calls and questions from listeners and fans of Rob Van Dam, as well as RVD himself! But, Hulk’s PRIMARY reason for calling RVD was revealed to be the fact that Hulk was calling to ask Rob Van Dam to come to TNA! Then LIVE on RVD-Radio, Hulk Hogan PUBLICLY pitched RVD to come and join him at TNA!
Hogan stated that he didn’t have a problem “discussing business” in public with RVD, and didn’t waste any time before telling RVD he needs to join TNA. He said TNA has some serious momentum right now and could really take off if they had RVD “ruling the roost”!
Van Dam asked Hogan about TNA iMPACT! moving to Monday nights, which Hogan said is “definitely going to happen sooner than later.” Hogan said TNA needs RVD’s help.
Van Dam said he is very interested in hearing what Hogan has to say about him coming in. Van Dam told Hogan that now is a better time than ever as his wife is healthy, he is healthy and he’s not burnt out. RVD said he was curious about coming into TNA and said that he and Hogan should probably do some more talking after the show is over. He mentioned bringing Sabu along with him to TNA.
Hogan said he was on the phone with Jeff Hardy earlier in the day, talking about Van Dam coming to TNA, among other topics.
Hogan said he and Hardy have some crazy idea that he “guarantees” will work. Hogan kept saying how much fun everyone is having in TNA. RVD asked Hogan if it was his decision to go back to the four-sided ring and Hogan confirmed it was. Hogan put down the six-sided ring and Van Dam agreed with the decision.
Overall it was a great interview, which you can listen to at www.BlogTalkRadio.com. Hogan appears at about the 23 minute mark.
Hogan claimed he called in to speak with Rob about coming into the company, but ended up on the air. He claimed he had just been speaking to Jeff Hardy about ideas and pushed Van Dam to come in, saying things would be a lot of easier for the company for TNA should RVD sign with them. Van Dam responded they needed to have a conversation off the air. I bet he’ll be getting a phone call from John Laurinaitis the second someone in WWE reads this.. Hogan pushed that a move to Monday nights was happening “sooner than later” and he and RVD agreed that the move to a traditional ring will only help TNA in the long run. It was a pretty interesting conversation. Van Dam pretty much seemed open to talking about the idea since his wife is doing well and he’s been away long enough that he isn’t burnt out.
In addition to MY thoughts on the subject…here are some MORE reports on this HISTORIC call from Hulk Hogan to Rob Van Dam!
Hulk Hogan was a guest on Rob Van Dam’s “RVD Radio” show on Wednesday night, which you can listen to at www.BlogTalkRadio.com/RVDradio. Hogan claimed he was trying to reach RVD directly but agreed to be patched in as a live caller on the show.

Hogan then took some shots at WWE.
“We don’t have a girl writing the show telling us what to say,” Hogan said in a somewhat-sexist remark aimed at Stephanie McMahon. “I see some of the stuff that’s written (in TNA) and I just say, ‘Don’t even look at that crap. Let’s you and I rock.’ That’s how it was with almost anyone I worked with. If I feel it and believe it, you don’t have to read some stupid-ass script..”
Hogan summed up his sales pitch by saying it’s the first time “one of the boys” is running a wrestling promotion on a national level and he claims to not have an agenda for anything he’s doing with the TV product.
“It ain’t no pitch. It’s a shoot, bro. We’re not playing games. You (RVD) come to the table and it makes the tide rise. This company is going to even the score, then we’re going to start spanking people consistently,” Hogan said. “We don’t have agendas, brother. We don’t have families writing the show or brothers-in-law holding the titles. It’s the first time you’ve got one of the boys running the business and there’s no agenda.”
A caller asked Hogan directly about the TNA comparions to WCW. Hogan made it clear that he doesn’t want to be on television all the time despite what some people might think. Hogan made sure to mention, however, that his appearances “spiked the needle.”
“We’re throwing a bunch of stuff against the wall, seeing what spikes the needle minute by minute, and learning as we go along that some guys have no life at all and some guys have a lot of life. We’re already maneuvering all the players around. You’re going to see who we’re going with more than others. You’re going to see who we’re really giving the super rocket up their rear end.”
Hogan and RVD talked about how the “smart marks” have good points, TNA needs to be doing things that appeal to a mass audience.
“All these people you call the smart marks and I’ve been in the business 30 years and I’m still a mark. I’m not smartened up yet, brother. All of a sudden, people are saying, ‘Why are you doing this and why are you doing that?’ Do the marks know about the network – what Kevin Kay and Brian Diamond at Spike are asking and demanding? There’s a whole ‘nother world out there that all these people have an opinion on who’s on TV too much, but they don’t know what’s happening with the network.
Hogan said TNA is in a transition period and they are working on getting over new stars like AJ Styles and Abyss.
“What we need to do with these young guys is breathe life into the characters. I came at AJ with this crazy idea of putting him with Flair and not just turning heel, but – I can’t even tell you the name of the character – he’s going through this transition right now.”
“Abyss as he is right now only got him so far like the six-sided ring. They (TNA) were banging a less than 1.0 number for the last three or four years. Styles the way he is, Abyss the way he is, six-sided ring the way it was, it banged a certain number and that was it.”

I’m n not shocked that Rob would be going to TNA at least he’ll know what city he is in. Side note… I had the pleasure of meeting him in Toronto and he didn’t even know what city he was in. Nothing is shocking me anymore in the world of wrestling. WWE has a fight on their hands for sure and like Bischoff said “if you’re not on the battlefield you’re not in the battle. I wonder why Terry (HULK) is doing this?. Did Vince p@@@ Terry off? I haven’t seen any indication or read anything about the spark of this feud. It’s making for interesting Thursday nights, now coming to Monday nights March 8th (shameless plug). WWE never mentions TNA at all on RAW nor SMACKDOWN?, however there were a few shots taken a few weeks back on both WWE shows, personally it would make RAW or SMACKDOWN that much more. How much more talent can TNA handle though? Maybe the guys of the WWE are talking but I can’t see them all jumping ship?. I have also met Vince he is a great guy, Terry has a huge ego but then when I met him he was in character during a script w/ WWE. I can’t wait to see how WWE responds to this I know they are avoiding it totally, it’s probably killing Vince to respond publicly or through one of the shows.
Like I said ratings for WWE would go through the roof I would love to talk to Vince or Stephanie for that matter.
