Vince McMahon made the decision to make this year’s Royal Rumble main event a 40-man match. While there were some in the company against it, nobody really argued Vince on the idea because it was obvious that he was very excited about the change. One person who spoke out against the change was agent and Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, one of the creators behind the Royal Rumble concept. Patterson has told friends he feels like adding more Superstars to the match waters down the concept.
There is a bit of heat on SmackDown Superstar Jack Swagger because WWE officials feel that Swagger got too big-headed while being pushed last year. Swagger had began to get a reputation for being too cocky backstage and rubbed certain people the wrong way. The source notes that Swagger’s behavior backstage has been improving and WWE officials have taken notice but they don’t want to let him off the hook without learning a lesson.
