WWE Addresses Michael Cole’s Homophobic Twitter Remarks

  • Share

Michael Cole directed a homophobic slur yesterday afternoon on his Twitter account to fellow WWE announcer Josh Mathews before deleting it a short while later. He then wrote on Twitter, “I apologize to any and all who were offended by my tweet toward young Josh Mathews. It was obviously not meant the way it was taken.

“I was not ordered to apologize I said I am sorry because I am. Now can I get back to being a character again please?” TMZ.com drew attention to the Twitter post and WWE’s recently announced partnership with GLAAD to end bullying based on sexual orientation after John Cena directed a number of ‘homophobic taunts’ towards Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on the February 28 episode of Monday Night Raw. WWE released a statement to TMZ regarding Cole’s conduct.

“WWE has alerted GLAAD to the situation and spoken to Michael Cole about his post. He has removed it and apologized for using hateful language. Michael will be included in the training session being done by GLAAD. WWE takes this very seriously and is against discrimination of any kind based on sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or other.”

People and companies need to QUIT backing down to organizations like PETA, GLAAD and such, if your offended don’t support the person that made the comment. FREE SPEECH!!! Suck IT!!! I;m sick and tired of our rights being taken away, we cant say christmas, we cant say gay, we cant hang a ghost from our tree without it being racist…..wow give me a break. But everyone bends over and takes it up the rear (oh no did you hear that GLAAD, was that a slur no im a male and my female likes it there). I’m offended by these people jumping on every little thing that they can make into something, which they only do because they have to have a reaon to exist. I will say though im shocked that WWE is bowing down to them and by doing so is only helping further their B.S. agenda!!!

And I’m sick of people saying your instead of you’re. It’s really not hard chief and it will make you look a lot smarter than you probably are! Just remember that if it’s related to ownership, it is YOUR as in YOUR apple, YOUR brain, YOUR problem. You’re is when it is describing something as in YOU ARE an idiot or YOU ARE fooling yourself if you think companies will stop caring about offending certain groups of their customers or shareholders. It’s the way of the world at this time and I believe personally that it goes overboard a lot of times but it is what it is. YOU’RE just going to have to get used to it and suck it up yourself. I feel better now that I responded to YOUR post. Have a good week!

Companies will stop caring about offending certain groups of their customers and shareholders when the majority of their customers and shareholders are more outraged at the ridiculous level of political correctness being displayed than the minority is about whatever crusade their currently fighting.
