Coming off of the death of “Macho Man” Randy Savage this past Friday, Yahoo Sports posted an article stating how over 25% of competitors at WrestleMania VII in 1991 are now deceased. Included in the article include Macho Man (58-years-old, dead of a heart attack), Andre the Giant (46, heart failure), Mr. Perfect (44, drug overdose), Miss Elizabeth (42, drug overdose), British Bulldog (39, heart attack), Dino Bravo (44, gunshot), the Texas Tornado (33, suicide), Joey Marella (31, car accident), Hawk (46, heart attack), Hercules (47, heart disease), Earthquake (42, bladder cancer), Crush (44, unconfirmed), and the Big Boss Man (41, heart attack).
Speaking of the death of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, WWE paid tribute to Savage, one of their top stars in the 1980s, airing a 3-and-a-half-minute video package on last night’s flagship television program, RAW on the USA Network. WWE made no mention of his death on Friday’s edition of SmackDown despite the fact he died early that morning. The show, however, was taped and edited in advance to the airing.
