David D. attended a WWE RAW live event from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado last night (10/7/11) and sent in the following results from the show. If you ever attend a live event and want to send in notes/results from the show, e-mail us at Webmaster@WrestleHeat.com.
David Otunga comes out first and addresses the crowd. He informs us that he has spoken with the WWE Board of Directors and that they have come to an agreement with the roster. As long as Triple H doesn’t show up at tonight’s show, the wrestlers will perform for us. Otunga insulted the audience while informing us of this, and the crowd booed him for it.
Match #1: Drew McIntyre is out first and he is defeated by Zack Ryder: Post-match saw Jack Swagger come out and nail Ryder from behind as he was leading the crowd in one of his “WOO! WOO! WOO!” chants.
Match #2: Jack Swagger defeated Alex Riley.
Match #3: Primo comes out and is defeated by Mason Ryan: This was the comedy match with Ryan outmatching Primo when it came to the test of strength spot/etc. Primo bumped like a champ for Ryan. Lots of playing to the crowd in this one.
Match #4: Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison in what seemed like a 20+ minute match to retain the United States Championship: JoMo loses again, but this was probably the match of the night. Good chemistry between these two. This reminded me of seeing some of the early matches between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels or The Rock and Stone Cold. These two guys could main event
something someday based solely on their in-ring work. The crowd was very into this. Post-match saw Morrison land starship pain on Ziggler. Not that I expected it, being a house show and all, but there was no Vickie Guerrero here. Aw.
Eden Stiles is out to host a fan dance contest. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her on TV, but she’s very pretty though. Contestants consisted of a male Randy Orton fan, a female John Cena Fan, a male CM Punk fan, and a young girl named Alexis that Stiles had to prompt to say John Cena. Maybe she was shy or something, but that really happened. Ha ha! (The WWE/Cena machine LIVES!!!) The male Randy Orton fan totally had this, by the way.
Match #5: Beth Phoenix defeated Eve Torres to retain the Divas Championship: Good match here. Eve, who is billed as being from Denver, was out in a John Elway Denver Broncos jersey. Big pop for this.
Match #6: Air Boom (Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne) defeated Michael McGillicutty & David Otunga to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships: Lots of aerial offense by Air Boom, as you might expect. Totally fun match to watch this live.
Match #7: Alberto Del Rio, with Ricardo Rodriguez, defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship: Ricardo Rodriguez came out first and did his introduction for Del Rio. Pop for this, but nothing compared to when Cena came out. Denver LOVES some John Cena. Seriously.
When this was over there was a post-match run-in/beat down by The Miz and R-Truth on John Cena. Big pop for these two, as I don’t think that anyone really expected this. Miz and Truth got down on their knees for security after attacking Cena, but they were then jumped by Air Boom, who came out to make the save. Cena then gave both Truth and Miz the attitude adjustment, and there was a curtain call-style celebration with Kofi, Bourne, and Cena to end the show.
