WWE RAW Rating Continues To Be Strong Heading Into WrestleMania

  • Share

Last night’s WWE Monday Night Raw broadcast on the USA Network drew a strong 3.92 cable rating with 5.79 million viewers, which was up from the week prior’s 3.82 rating by 3%. The show was also up 3% in total viewers (5.79 million vs 5.60 million). WWE has been heavily promoting nostalgic names as of late to help pop the rating, including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and last night, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

Next week, WWE is promoting two matches: Trish Stratus vs Vickie Guerrero and Sheamus vs Daniel Byran for the United States Championship. Both matches will be career threatening. In addition, they are promoting that ‘Jersey Shore’ star Snooki will be the guest-star of the show. ‘Jersey Shore’ has been a cable ratings phenom this past season, often surpassing the ratings of such hit shows like ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘The Office’ and ‘CSI’ on the traditional broadcast networks.

I get why they’re using Snooki, it’s just that I’m not a female or a perv, so I just can’t force myself to care. Both career matches seem ridiculous. Vickie wrestling, regardless of the stipulation, is as boring as it gets and Sheamus in any sort of promoted match seems lackluster due to his losing streak. I’ve been saying I think Sheamus will win and lead this whole thing to a WM showdown. It’s not that I really think it’s a great idea or something, it’s just that it would make zero sense so I feel as though I can count on it. WWE hasn’t been very good with their story lines of late and the nonsense of Sheamus winning would seem like the next step. I’m super happy Bryan will be involved in an actual wrestling match though! Hopefully the match gets more than 3 or 4 minutes too.
