It is expected that with just two weeks to go until the SummerSlam pay-per-view, the WWE Championship match for the RAW brand will be confirmed tonight, including John Cena and CM Punk. Although it has not been officially confirmed, many are expecting Cena to face CM Punk in a “unification” match of sorts, but it should be noted that WWE hasn’t officially confirmed that yet.
In fact, I am told that there was a backstage pitch to including Triple H into the match with Cena and Punk at SummerSlam, however, it is more likely that he will be involved in the angle itself without being directly inserted in the match. As we noted in a previous story, WWE is looking at making longtime booking for upcoming shows, and in another news story, we noted that there is already talk of having CM Punk face Triple H come WrestleMania.
We also noted that there were six scripts on hand Monday night on RAW, a majority of which included CM Punk returning with Triple H taking him out with a pedigree. While it is not confirmed that Hunter will be involved in the actual match as a participant at SummerSlam, all signs point toward WWE going that direction. Triple H will be on tonight’s episode of RAW to talk about the predicament he is in now that the brand has two WWE Champions.
